Pride Portland is pleased to announce the first meeting of the Queer People of Color’s (QPOC) affinity group. This is the first of what we hope will be a continuing avenue of community engagement.

When we conceived of this idea we chose QPOC group to start with because we felt that queer people of color faced the biggest obstacles to being seen, heard, and engaged with Pride. We’ve held community meetings in the past but we wanted to take these gatherings a step forward and use this time to to build community, and recruit and train future pride leadership.

Pride Portland would like to invite all of Southern Maine’s queer people of color to attend a work meeting to develop strategies for survival, pleasure, rebellion, joy, and community within the context of Pride.

Please note that this event will be hosted by Pride Portland's Co-Chair Sebastiane Sacerdoti-Ravenscroft and will be a closed session with only queer people of color in attendance.

Other affinity groups will be announced in the future.
